Wildcats Fall To James Island On Walk Off

A walk-off left West Ashley on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to James Island on Monday. The game was tied at one with James Island batting in the bottom of the tenth when Jaxon Weatherford singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.The pitching was strong on both sides. James Island pitchers struck out 12, while the Wildcats sat down nine. West Ashley got on the board in the first inning. Rodney Griffin grounded out, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the second inning, James Island tied things up at one when Patch Moody singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Garette Watson led things off on the rubber for James Island. He went six innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out nine. Myles Corley was on the mound for West Ashley. He went seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out eight. Vince Smith threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. West Ashley racked up seven hits in the game. Michael Poulos and Bryce Brown all managed multiple hits for the Wildcats. Poulos went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead West Ashley in hits. The Wildcats were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Poulos had the most chances in the field with nine.
Weatherford led James Island with three hits in five at bats.
